We are Scott & Kristine, husband and wife alternative wedding photographers behind Blue Elephant Photography. We are based in Oklahoma with our furry boy Fuji. We’re big fans of love, travel, and adventures which takes us to Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and across the world. We are passionate about documenting genuine and uninhibited love between two people because telling their story matters.
Zach and Lindsay are two kids from small towns in Oklahoma who didn’t cross paths until they went to college. She fell in love with his shaggy hair and kind eyes. For him, she was simply the one. Lindsay never saw the proposal coming. She didn’t expect her shy Zach could remain so calm and cool on such a day. Zach took Lindsay on a picnic at the lake at their favorite spot. It’s places like this that remind them of growing up. Zach said he had something for her and Lindsay started to suspect something was up. He handed her a book, a choose your own adventure like the ones you read as a kid. Except that it soon became apparent that Zach had actually written the book and Lindsay was the main character! She read the story but the book was unfinished…at which point he handed her the missing page. It read “Will you be on my team and choose your own adventure with me?” He took out a ring and asked her to marry him. She said “Yes” of course!
Zach and Lindsay choose to take an adventure with us to celebrate the next chapter. It ended up a bit more of an adventure than planned. We travelled out to Gloss Mountain State Park in the panhandle of Oklahoma. It’s hot and dry but an awe-inspiring landscape. Out of the desolation rises Gloss Mountain with steep red shiny walls and a flat top. Zach and Lindsay were real troopers. This desert engagement was scorching hot! We hiked around the base between the desert grasses, tumbleweeds, and gorgeous selenite gypsum landscape. Zach was even attacked by a giant centipede {not kidding!}. We all ran screaming, sorry Zach! When we got to the top as the sun set, it was all worth it. It’s amazing that the universe brought these two best friends together to this one epic spot. It was surely a fun day of adventure!
Congrats Zach and Lindsay! It was hot but it was a worthwhile adventure. That was also our first time seeing the sunset from the top of Gloss Mountain. You are a totally rad couple and now we can’t wait for your wedding in Guthrie! Friends, thank you all for stopping by and make sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram! ♥
