Rainy Day Wedding at Lafayette Square Park

Some love stories find you when you least expect them and some friendships do too. Jeffrey and I go way back to Cebu, Philippines, where we sang together in ministry. Even then, Jeff’s voice was something special, the kind that wins contests and stops conversations. Life took us in different directions, and years passed without a word. Then, out of nowhere, I found out he’d made his way to the States, found his footing in school, found the love of his life in Travis, and, lucky for us, found his way back to us too. We kicked things off with an engagement session at Forest Park, and by the time their wedding day rolled around, we were all ready to celebrate in full.

Celebrate they did, starting from the very first light of morning. Soft, hazy light spilled through the tall windows of a downtown St. Louis loft as Travis and Jeffrey shared waffles and fresh fruit in bed. Unhurried. Together. Just the two of them. It had all the magic of an elopement. Their wedding morning was tender, quiet, and completely theirs. I’ll never get tired of photographing couples who choose to start their wedding day this way.

From there, the city became their backdrop. Clouds hung low and fog rolled in, but nothing was going to keep us from the Gateway Arch. It’s iconic, towering, and impossibly cool even on a moody day. We wandered through Lafayette Square Park, admiring the gorgeous historic homes lining the streets, when the sky opened up and the rain came down. Out came the umbrellas, and honestly? It made for some of the most beautiful, cinematic shots of the day. These two didn’t miss a beat.

Their intimate ceremony was held inside the Victorian Park House, a stunning space right in the heart of Lafayette Square Park. It had all the charm and character you’d want for a wedding this personal. Then came the reception, and friends it delivered. Maggiano’s Little Italy welcomed the whole crew for a family-style dinner that was as warm and lively as the couple themselves. (The food was incredible, and yes, I am absolutely going back next time I’m in St. Louis.) True to Filipino tradition, the toasts weren’t just spoken, they were sung. Full karaoke style. Because when one of the grooms has a voice like Jeffrey’s, you don’t let that go to waste. There was spontaneous dancing, games, nonstop laughter, and someone always at the keyboard keeping the energy alive well into the night.

It’s better with music!

This Lafayette Square Park wedding in St. Louis, MO was a perfect reminder of why we love wedding photography. Every moment felt joyful, intentional, and uniquely them. From the rainy-day adventures to the heartfelt toasts, the day was full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. We are so grateful to have captured this destination wedding and the story of Travis and Jeffrey’s love.
