We are Scott & Kristine, husband and wife alternative wedding photographers behind Blue Elephant Photography. We are based in Oklahoma with our furry boy Fuji. Music inspiration took center stage at Daniel & Emily’s wedding at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Sparrow Beginnings in Stillwater, OK. And the night hit a high note with Emily literally taking the stage. Their story started when Emily was looking for a guitarist to cover a church service. Through faith and music their relationship grew from there. Then we ran into this amazing couple at their friend’s wedding that we photographed a few years ago. Dan was the videographer we worked with and Emily sang and played the piano. We remembered them so clearly because we immediately saw how these two are so talented and creative. So I guess you could say that their love of music and art brought them to us as well.
They chose St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for the ceremony and Sparrow Beginnings as the reception venue. Combining these two venues is an ideal way to celebrate your wedding in Stillwater. They are both big bright beautiful spaces. This was such a beautiful wedding to start off the year. It was a chilly day so we kept everyone warm and cozy indoors up to the ceremony. But the colorful fresh florals and beaming smiles quickly brightened up the halls. I’m so obsessed with all the flowers that filled the day! I wish I could wake up to these beautiful blooms by Garden Party Florist every morning. Dan and Emily are such a cute couple and Emily is such a stunning bride. I love her dress. Yes, I will admit, we have a thing for lace sleeves! I still can’t get over how awesome it is that the groom’s father crafted the wedding rings.
Beautiful song filled the ceremony at St. Francis lead by the talented musicians in the loft. It quickly became apparent listening to the harmonies emanating from the pews that many of their friends are talented vocalists as well. Once everyone headed off to Sparrow Beginnings, the party kicked off with the funky melodies of a live band. The highlight of the night was impromptu karaoke from guests with live backup from the band. We will never forget seeing Emily up on stage in her wedding dress singing her heart out. There is nothing like that pure joy of just being married and being surrounded by a beautiful gathering of all your loved ones. These are moments that we hold so dearly in our heart.
