We are Scott & Kristine, husband and wife alternative wedding photographers behind Blue Elephant Photography. We are based in Oklahoma with our furry boy Fuji. We’re big fans of love, travel, and adventures which takes us to Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and across the world. Life can take you on quite an adventure if you keep an open mind and accept opportunities. The Pacific Northwest is an area that we always hear peers and friends talk about but we aren’t the type of people to just follow the beaten path. But when Cash and Cassandra told us that they were going up to Cannon Beach near Portland, Oregon for the July 4th weekend, it was a sign that it was time to go. I have to admit, we’ve also fallen in love. Just the way Haystack Rock emerges mysteriously out of the water and reflects majestically on the shore is unforgettable. It’s the perfect place for an engagement session.
Cash and Cassandra were first introduced through a mutual friend and everything has been falling into place ever since. I feel like us meeting them has also been serendipitous. They had just gotten engaged and started to put wedding ideas together. We happened to run into each other at an open house in Tulsa. They were just casually browsing but we really loved how fun and laid back they were. We could have talked to them all afternoon. They are the sweetest couple. A week later, they contacted us. In the end, they didn’t choose the venue, but they did choose us!
Cannon Beach is actually a fun little coastal town full of character so we started our shoot by sharing some chicken wings and drinks at a local brewery. They had such a lighthearted and cheerful vibe during the whole shoot that it really made it fun for all of us. The beer might have helped too lol. Oregon has so many amazing places that we had to go exploring! They strolled happily beneath the towering trees and took in the views from the cliffs of Ecola State Park. They snuggled between the tall beach grass growing along the sand dunes. Cash proposed to Cassandra on his sailboat {How cool is that?!} so we absolutely had to go down to the water. They ran along the shore and played in the water as the sun slowly set in the horizon at Cannon Beach Haystack Rock.
