We are Scott & Kristine, husband and wife alternative wedding photographers behind Blue Elephant Photography. We are based in Oklahoma with our furry boy Fuji. We’re big fans of love, travel, and adventures which takes us to Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and across the world. We are passionate about documenting genuine and uninhibited love between two people because telling their story matters.
Dustin and Kendall are crazy in love with each other but also brave and genuinely compassionate humans. They love the outdoors. Dustin proposed to Kendall at Natural Falls State Park. Kendall is a horticulturist and enjoys the beauty of nature. Dustin is a motorcycle enthusiast and always up for a challenge. So for their engagement session we planned an adventure! We all headed out to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in search of the scenic Forty Foot Hole. We climbed along the cliffside stopping to take in the inspiring canyon landscape. These two are awesome hiking companions, always positive and living in the moment. And low and behold, we found the cascading waterfalls!
Now, there is more to the story. We planned for an adventure but it turned out much bigger than expected! It’s an absolutely beautiful area but unfortunately it can also be dangerous. We just finished the first part of the session, when someone fell from the rugged cliff! We cut the session short to help them. It’s a challenging spot to rescue someone. Dustin had to run a long way out and back to get ropes from an ambulance, so that we could lift her up the cliff. Since we knew the Wichita Mountains area better from hiking around, we spent the next couple hours helping the medics to physically carry the person out of the ravine to a spot where a helicopter could airlift them out. I believe it was meant to be for us all to be there at that moment. If you know Dustin and Kendall, give them a big hug or pat on the back, they are two of the unsung heroes that day.
Congrats Dustin and Kendall! We are so happy for you two. The session ended up a lot crazier than expected but in the end we are so glad we got to know you better. And we like you even more! We hope to have more adventures with you guys in the future! Friends, thank you all for stopping by and make sure to hit ‘Like’ or leave some Love {aka comments}. ♥
